If you are visiting Singapore, I recommend a trip to the breathtakingly gorgeous Gardens by the Bay. Consisting of 101 hectares of cultivated greenery on reclaimed land in downtown Marina Bay, the project is a true ‘Garden in a City’ and provides a tranquil and sustainable refuge from the humidity of the city.
I loved the ‘Flower Dome’ where spring was in full bloom. The ‘coolest’ part of the project is perhaps the ‘Cloud Forest’ where I was greeted with a spray of mist from the waterfall. Next I stumbled across the Crystal Mountain, where stalagmites and stalactites share space with crystals and rock formations.
I ended my trip with a visit to the ‘Supertrees’ which soar to lofty heights some 50 meters above sea-level and provide a home to tropical flowering climbers, ferns and orchids. Not for vertigo sufferers, the aerial walkway offers views over Marina Bay and beyond.
